2016 Spottswoode Estate “Mary’s Block”

Through a rare blend of grace and grit, Mary Weber Novak quietly established Spottswoode as one of the valley’s great family-owned wineries and a first growth-caliber property. We first began producing Sauvignon Blanc in 1984, and it was Mary’s favorite wine. Mary’s Block was planted in 2000 because it was meaningful to her to always have Sauvignon Blanc in the Spottswoode Estate Vineyard. As a tribute to her, we offer this limited estate bottling, made purely from her 1.07-acre namesake block in the southeastern corner of our family vineyard.

The inaugural release of Mary’s Block is ready to enjoy now, with an inviting nose and lush textural richness on the palate. It is a lovely, complex expression of Sauvignon Blanc entirely from our Spottswoode Estate Vineyard—juicy and round with floral and beeswax aromas, and notes of key lime pie with cream on top. An exceedingly small amount was bottled and is made available exclusively to our Top Spott! and Spott On! winery members.

A portion of the sales of this wine will be donated to The Land Trust of Napa County, a land conservation organization that Mary supported and for which the Novak family has the greatest respect.
