2011 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon
Time flies when you’re having fun and the 2011 represents our tenth vintage of crafting our Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon! In the early years, Lyndenhurst was sourced from some of our younger blocks, but as time went on we began to select particularly expressive lots from various blocks of the estate vineyard to produce a lush and approachable Cabernet Sauvignon. Recently, we have started blending in just a touch of wine made from grapes purchased from a couple of outstanding sites in the Napa Valley, in an effort to build on our very small production while providing additional nuances to the wine.
The fragrant Linden trees that still grace our formal gardens provide the inspiration for this Cabernet Sauvignon, as Lyndenhurst was the name of the Estate in its earlier 19th-century history. The wine is fruit-forward, demonstrative, and pretty, while being complex, well-structured, and balanced. It is ready to drink upon release, but also has great staying power.
The 2011 growing year was fairly cool and this delivered a wine with a complex spectrum of deep fruit flavors and a lovely elegance. The bouquet is warm and inviting with aromas of berry pie and an elusive floral perfume that flows through the palate. It finishes long with dark fruit flavors of black cherries, boysenberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Hints of mint and fresh herbs mingle with aromas of fresh roasted coffee in this delicious wine!
