Vertical Tasting held on November 7, 2007
This fall we had the pleasure of hosting wine tasters Linda Murphy from Decanter magazine, and Karen Williams from Acme Fine Wines. We always love this opportunity to taste through all of our wines with knowledgeable “guest” palates, and we are very pleased to share with you our collective comments!
Linda noted, “Such in-house evaluations are common, yet few producers so honestly alert their customers to the results. Any winery can assemble a vertical of its best vintages, invite the media and tout the results; Spottswoode revisits every wine, warts and all, every year, and shares what it learns.”
Karen wrote, “Having the rare and auspicious opportunity to experience the momentous, historical vertical tasting of the 25 vintages of Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon was truly an honor. What I brought away from this unparalleled tasting was true to my first experiences tasting Spottswoode cabernets and why I considered these Napa Valley cabernets to be of the finest quality. The wines exhibit great strength and notable elegance while representing their graceful ability to age alongside the classics of the world.”

Christie Dufault, Wine Director at Quince in San Francisco, decants the Estate Cabernet in the Spottswoode winery.
