2007 Field Book “Rhone”

We are thrilled to introduce you to our inaugural release of Field Book, Spottswoode’s first-ever Rhone style wine! In our quest to challenge and educate ourselves in all things vinous, we have pursued our love for Syrah and Grenache.

Field Book is named to reflect the detailed notes we recorded as we explored many California vineyards in search of a stellar Rhone varietal site. On our journey, we chanced upon the Terra Bella Vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles, an isolated property steeply situated at 1800 feet above sea level that is exposed to Pacific coastal winds channeled through the Templeton Gap. This rugged terroir has a unique expression and ability to captivate and fuel our intellectual curiosity while honing our winemaking skills. Classic flavors of blackberry and red cherry from Grenache are blended with loamy earth and leather notes from Syrah for this first issue of Field Book.

Field Book: 2007, of which only 179 cases were bottled, is being offered exclusively to our most valued Spottswoode customers in recognition for past patronage and support. We invite you to join us on this Rhone expedition to discover a new wine crafted by Spottswoode to our exacting standards that display our trademark elegance and structure!
