1% For The Planet
We are extremely proud to be a member of 1% For The Planet. All member businesses commit to donating one percent of their annual revenue to charitable organizations which support our natural environment. The Charter of 1% For The Planet states it best: “We recognize we do not have totally sustainable and harmless businesses, or lifestyles. We recognize that we have an obligation to mitigate the damage we cause, regardless of whether or not we make a profit. Therefore, we have decided not to wait for any government to do the right thing. We are committing our businesses to donate at least one percent of our net revenues to efforts that protect and restore our natural environment.”
1% For The Planet was launched in 2001 by Yvon Chouinard, environmental activist and founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies. Chouinard and Mathews, both astute and visionary businessmen, believe passionately that the health of our environment is integral to human and business health. They created this association in an effort to bring other like-minded businesses in to help solve our environmental crisis and build successful companies at the same time.
